With his sensitive and expressive playing, bassoonist Adrian Rovatkay is an internationally sought-after soloist and chamber musician. After training as a bassoonist and studying painting at the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Braunschweig, Adrian Rovatkay was a bassoonist with Musica Antiqua Köln under the direction of Reinhard Goebel from 1990 to 1995.
Adrian Rovatkay's busy concert schedule has taken him to the major festivals in Europe, Mexico, Asia and the USA with many renowned early music ensembles.
Rovatkay has worked as a lecturer in Bremen, Leipzig and Venice and has given master classes in Tokai/Hungary, Wroclaw/Poland, Klagenfurt/Austria and Miercurea Ciuc/Romania.
He made his debut in 2008 with Mozart's bassoon concerto in the Wroclaw Philharmonic, which was played on original instruments for the first time in Poland.
With the rediscovery and recording of the music of Daniel Bollius in 2009, as well as the subsequent performances, he made an important contribution to the exploration of German music between the Renaissance and Baroque periods and its scholarly treatment.
In addition to Adrian Rovatkay's work with early music, he has performed his own compositions, sound installations and visual projections at the Festspielhaus St Pölten, the Hebbeltheater Berlin and the Kunstverein Zielona Gora.
In 2018, he wrote the film music for the animated film “Dieses und jenes und anderes auch” by Matthias Beckmann.
Adrian Rovatkay's diverse musical oeuvre is documented on over 100 CD recordings, among others Adrian Rovatkay is constantly seeking dialog with various arts.
